Spray Tanning Information

Sunbed tanning should not be considered with the growing tested and seen dangers of UV ray exposure. You can opt to utilise tanning lotions, mousses, gels, sun bed or the very common tool, spray tanning all known as “Sunless Tanning”.

DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is the fundamental ingredient in spray tans. The FDA (Federal Drug Administration) has been approved a form of sugar derived from a plant source which reacts with amino acids found in the dead cells of our skin. The epidermis (outer layer) and the dermis (inner layer) make up the skin. The action takes place in the epidermis.

A colour change happens when the DHA sticks to the cells of the skin, resulting in a tan. Every day, new cells appear as dead skin cells drop off. The sun-kissed colour spray tan fades gradually lasting approximately one week.

Spray tanning can be done at home if you would prefer to save money, but it is generally applied in salons. If you know how, simply buy a can of spray tan and apply the tan yourself. There are basically two ways to get a spray tan you if don’t want blotches in your skin, an airbrush tan or spray tanning booths.
Fine mist of tanning solution is emitted at the spray tanning booths.

If you don’t want to be unclothed you can opt to wear a dark-coloured two-piece bathing suit while undergoing the process which only takes a minute to finish. Towel-off excess solution afterwards. The spray tanning results will take its effect after about an hour or two.

Airbrush tan, on the other hand, is done manually by a trained tanning technician. The technician ensures that there will be no un-sprayed spots. About 4 hours after the session you can take a shower. There are benefits and side effects associated with every process and here are some benefits from to be gained from spray tanning:

ACCESSIBILITY. For individuals who reside in locations with cold climates where the sun hardly rises you can get a tan whenever you like and wherever you are.

AVAILABILITY. Be careful in choosing the right shade for your skin because you can choose from a wide range of spray tan colours.

LESS STAIN. Spray tanning dries more quickly resulting in your clothes having fewer stains than wet sunless tans such as mousses, lotions and gels.
